The book addresses the tourism sector in terms of its economic competitiveness, in the wider background of the economic emergence regions. It thus deals with determining the place occupied by Romania in the area of tourism competitiveness, preceded by its placement within the Central and Eastern Europe emerging region.

Scientific research in the field of economic emergence is relatively recent and to date the existing approaches are many, both in terms of definitions and criteria for grouping countries according to their stage of economic development.

An important factor of this type of development has proved to be tourism, given that the tourism sector is one of the most dynamic globally speaking, with a particular impact on the economy and society as a whole.

The book proposes a harmonization of the main research directions identified in the field of the phenomenon of economic emergence, followed by an innovative approach to tourism on two levels: the classical view regarding the impact of the tourism sector in the economy and the modern view of the role of tourism at national level, through a theoretical and practical delimitation of the concept of tourism competitiveness.
