The book ”The system of companies and real convergence in the European Union. The case of Romania” constitutes a scientific approach structured in three chapters and its objective is to identify the relationship between the system of companies from one country and the process of real convergence.

The scientific approach starts from the conceptual analysis of the real convergence and of the system of companies and continues with a wide-ranging analysis of the theories of development and of the theory of post-communist transition, bringing to the foreground their impact on the system of companies, but also with the presentation of these systems in the European Union and of their regulation modality of functioning. It is also analysed the impact of the current economic and financial crisis on the system of EU companies.

The system of Romanian companies and their potential of convergence to the European Union is presented taking into account the characteristics of Romanian transition to the market economy, the mode of organisation and functioning of Romanian companies and the characteristics of Romanian business environment. The analysis undertaken indicates that in the absence of an efficient system of companies, the process of real convergence is more difficult and, perhaps, impossible.
