Information systems management

The present work approaches the most important aspects of the information systems, from highlighting the characteristics of the abstract “system” notion to the shapes these systems take in the 3rd millennium informational society. The book analyses both specific and complementary problems of the information systems management. The aspects discussed include communication, systemic perception of the messages, measuring the quantity of information, data quality aspects, economic decisions, decision informational substantiation models, enterprise organization as process and structure, cultural aspects of the organization etc.
 

Unlike other works in this field and aiming to clarify some existing confusions, the book establishes a clear delimitations between “informatics” and ”informational”, informatics system and informational system, data and information, information and decision, communication and communication system. Also, the book defines concepts specific to the informational system like knowledge thesaurus, informational entropy, informational energy, sinentropy, information quantity, informational audit, precision, information opportunity, clarity and novelty etc.
 

Through its systematic approach of the field, “Information systems management” provides the reader with the elements required to understand the informational side of 21st century business: information technology governance, electronic documents management, electronic workflows and digital signature.
 

Targeting practitioners and theorists, the book is an instrument for economic development – through development of the informational system – as alternative and/or complement to traditional direct methods (like investments in infrastructure, technology or human resources). This is the instrument that starts from work relations (organizational culture, organizational structure etc.), quantifies them, analyses the informational flows and the level of decision substantiation, providing development opportunities by removing informational redundancies and optimizing work flows.
