This paper has as main purpose to facilitate the understanding of the content and use of methods and descriptive statistical techniques, for analyzing economic processes and phenomena.
The topics covered are retrivable in the curricula of all economic faculties, but mostly in the Statistics curiculla.
Using the current activity teaching experience with students, I considered necessary to tackle, trough this paper, both theoretical aspects of the statistical approach as well practical cases, exemplifying the use of methods and statistical techniques for solving real case studies. Most of the examples illustrating real economic problems are solved by using IT applications and programmes, specialised in processing and analysing statistical data (EXCEL, SPSS).
The current work adresses students from economic higher education system, mostly future specialists in the food and environement area.
