The book brings together studies written on the basis of some ideas presented in communications held at national and international conferences in the last ten years, their common denominator being the transdisciplinary methodology, which includes elements of economic anthropology and sociology, but also a few ideas that we have borrowed from disciplines that study human being and behaviour using principles derived from Darwinian and neo-Darwinian biological evolutionary theory. The topics covered can be grouped into three categories: 1) issues related to pressing contemporary concerns, such as ecological mentality and sustainable economic development; 2) fundamental concerns regarding the principles of management, leadership, and followership; 3) pressing issues that arise in the context of the interaction of cultures and microcultures specific for certain social or generational environments, as well as peculiar requirements of the contemporary business environment and related organizational cultures. The perspective that the book proposes on these themes is based on the use of concepts and tools specific for philosophy, biology, evolutionary anthropology, evolutionary psychology, sociobiology, behavioural ecology, or memetics. Consequently, the volume can be useful to all those interested in the possibility of diversifying inter- and trans-disciplinary approaches of the aforementioned issues, being they students at the beginning of their intellectual journey or experienced researchers.
