Basics of information technology. Practical work and tests

This book presents the basic functional principles of a computational system. It is structured in five sections containing practical applications and quizzes to test your knowledge.

The first section presents fundamental concepts related to information transmission theory and coding theory, while the second section presents concepts related to data representation in a computational system.

The third section is dedicated to illustrating concepts related to the logical foundations of computers, from the canonical forms of logical functions to ways of simplifying them and logical circuits.

The fourth section describes architectural elements of the conventional processor based on examples of source code written in assembly language. The applications presented are intended to familiarize the reader with data interpretation, memory addressing, and the correct use of microprocessor registers, a software interruption, a macro definition, and a procedure.

The fifth section contains a series of tests that readers can use to check and validate the information they have learned.

The book aims to teach basic concepts related to computer system architecture and requires prior reading of the bibliography for the course Fundamentals of Information Technology.

The objective of this book is to provide students of the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies with support in evaluating their acquired knowledge and passing the exam in the subject Fundamentals of Information Technology.
