This book explains the concept of business process, the steps of business process management and its benefits, with focus on public administration. Also, presents one of the most widely used business modeling notation language – BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation) and proposes a method for documenting business processes which includes: process description, assigning roles and responsibilities, risk assessment and associated control activities.
The authors make an introduction to project management, by describing its main characteristics and the project lifecycle. A comparison of the main open-source software tools for project management is made. Also, the features of Microsoft Project 2013 for project management are presented. Two case studies are used to exemplify the modeling and documenting of a process from public administration and the management of a public institution project.
