The book German currency. Bibliographic references, through an encyclopedic approach aims to capitalize on ample information about a little known domain, that of monetary circulation. As every coin has a history by this approach are highlighted the many facets of the currency, which do not limited to economic and technological information.

First part of the paper is based on a set of studies which explain theoretical and historical specific aspects of political and technical base of currency issue to substantiate understanding the second part, which is a catalog of spare money in circulation representative for the modern and contemporary periods. They are presented in historical, political, economic and cultural context of  each issuer and in the content of the register, where issuers are marked political; is also a geographical and historical presentation: location, coat of arms, history.

Historical presentation highlights important events that have marked the evolution of money, which, in Germany, expresses perhaps most eloquently all troubles of European history, from whose experience was reached the idea of a United Europe, one of its underlying components being the single European currency. Historical narrativesismore detailedforthe XVI-XX centuries regarding political aspects with direct consequences on the monetary circulation: changes of political regime, the form of government evolution, territorial changes, internal and external conflicts
